Meet SASSY

SASSY is a 4-month-old female Pit Bull Terrier mix. She currently weighs 19 lbs and should mature to around 40 lbs. She's really very petite. She is in our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program because the inmates want to learn how to train puppies, too. (They are usually training adult dogs with known issues, so puppies are refreshingly different.).

Four months is the perfect age to start training pups, and, while Sassy has her frolicking puppy moments, she is otherwise very eager to learn. She walks beautifully on a leash, she sits, she "downs," she stays, and she comes. She loves her crate and she's best friends with a Malinois mix. They cuddle and take naps together. With Sassy, you get it all! Puppy cute, very well behaved, and house-trained. Wow!

If you’re interested in adopting, our process begins with the submission of our online application, or email us if you submitted an application within the last six months.  We review and schedule meet and greets (with approved applicants only) based on the order received.
