PAWS BEHIND BARS PRISON TRAINING PROGRAM
We love our Paws Behind Bars Prison Training Program at Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in Oldham County, KY!
The inmate handlers are trained at professional levels. They meet weekly with our professional trainer, Petco's Amanda Armstrong, and Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue staff to successfully maintain their high standard of knowledge and training skills to turn a once homeless and unmannerly dog into a desirable adoptable companion animal.
Paws Behind Bars-trained dogs learn basic social skills, manners, and commands. Commands such as sit, down, and "place" are incredibly useful to an adopting family! The dogs who are chosen to participate in this program are primarily from high kill shelters and picked by Adopt Me! BPR staff as being ones who will benefit from the training process. Once they complete training, these wonderful dogs are available to the general public for adoption!
You can find the available Paws Behind Bars prison trained dogs on this website, Petfinder.com, our Facebook page, or Adopt-A-Pet.com.
